Launch Second Edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Guide
“During the event the 4th International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism was announced to be held in 2018”
The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) and the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) launched the second edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Guide with the local coordination of content with the public relations firm and health tourism expert, AF Comunicación Estratégica.
The purpose of this guide is to project not only the beautiful tourist destination that the Dominican Republic represents, but position it as the main health and wellness option of the Caribbean for those who wish to undergo treatment abroad, as well as provide them with the necessary information for their travel.
The President and Founder of ADTS, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso Rathe, explained that this guide seeks to provide information to international patients on the process of trusting their health issues and receiving healthcare in the Dominican Republic, providing general and cultural data on the destination, options of licensed and certified healthcare centers that counts with an international departments that guarantee the quality and safety of the patient, as well as information on hotels and answers to the most frequent concerns of health tourists.
On the other hand, during the activity, Amelia Reyes Mora, Vicepresident of ADTS and President of the AF Comunicaciones Estratégica, announced that preparations for the 4th International Health and Wellness Tourism Congress have already begun. The International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism is the most important activity of this sector in the region, and one is to be held next year at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua hotel.
In the event, Dr. Cambiaso Rathe and Lic. Reyes Mora formally delivered the first copies of the guide to the Minister of Health, Dr. Altagracia Guzmán Marcelino and to Lic. Fausto Fernández, Deputy Minister of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism, who expressed their commitment to the development of the health tourism in the Dominican Republic.
The activity was attended by important industry and government officials, including the Minister of Foreign Relations, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, the Minister of Economy, Planning and Development, Lic. Isidoro Santana, the President of Asonahores, Joel Santos, the Director of IDSS, Dr. César Mella, among others.
During the event, the President of ADTS announced that the Dominican Health Tourism Association will make a study, one that is to be conducted by Observatorio del Sistema de Salud de la República Dominicana, sponsored by Fundación Plenitud, supported by specialized international firm ASISA Research Group.
Amelia Reyes Mora thanked the different companies that collaborated to carry out activities to promote the health and wellness tourism and acknowledge the special commitment of JW Marriott Hotel that opened its doors for the launch of the second edition of the Dominican Republic Health and Wellness Tourism Guide be possible.
The health and wellness tourism guide is the local health tool with the greatest reach and international visibility that is available and used to inform health tourists and motivate them to visit our country, expressed Dr. Cambiaso.

Also, the Health and Wellness Tourism Guide is available in eBook format in Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble and is distributed internationally at the tourism promotion offices of the Ministry of Tourism, at Dominican consulates and embassies on foreign countries, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Accredited Consular Bodies, during healthcare conferences, on strategic hubs, as by insurance companies.
